Ideal for:
- Virtualization
Powerful and versatile 1-socket rack server for small and medium businesses (SMB) and remote office/branch office (ROBO).
The Dell PowerEdge R330 is an exceptional choice for both first-time and replacement servers in small and medium-sized businesses. It is also an affordable and attractive option for large institutions seeking a remote office/branch office (ROBO) server. Compared to its predecessor, the PowerEdge R320, the R330 delivers superior features, including support for DDR4 memory, PERC9 RAID controller, integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 8 (iDRAC8), and an Intel Xeon E3 processor.
Discover greater versatility
Scale your data storage with up to four internal 3.5-inch cabled or hot-plug hard drives or up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug hard drives. Expand your memory capacity over time with four DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB of DDR4 memory for faster application performance and response times. Adapt to dynamic workload conditions with a virtualization-ready server that supports Microsoft Windows Server with Hyper-V, VMware vSphere ESXi, and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.
Deliver powerful performance
Enhance system boot time with up to two optional 1.8-inch SSDs. Accelerate computing speed with enhanced DDR4 memory, which is 50% faster than DDR3 and 12.5% faster than the initial 2133 MT/s implementation of DDR4. Boost your data throughput with two PCIe 3.0 slots, offering 2x data throughput compared to PCIe 2.0. The R330/PERC9 delivers 2x IOPS performance compared to the previous-generation R320/PERC8, enabling you to process more input/output operations per second.
The butterfly riser provides two PCIe slots for the R330 rack server. This 1U system can not expand its networking ability with 2x PCIe 3.0 slots. Slot 1 is a Low-Profile half-height, half-length x4 link. The second slot is a full-height, half-length x8 link.
The R330 has a dedicated slot for the PERC storage controller. This slot is on the side of the system board near the butterfly riser PCIe slot. This card sits between the PSU and the system board controlling the installed storage drives.
The R330 has an embedded USB slot on the system board for loading the OS or the hypervisor OS. Without having the BOSS card supported this is the best way to load the OS on the system.
With the R330 being suitable for virtualization you'll need a proper way to load the hypervisor OS for the system. This can be achieved with the IDSDM which holds two SD Cards. This is the best way to save a drive from being allocated to the Hypervisor.
The R330 comes with iDRAC8 Express. It has the option to upgrade to the Enterprise version with supports the vFlash SD cards. These cards get installed into the iDRAC Port Module that gets installed in the rear. This Module has a 1GbE port and the SD slot for the vFlash SD Card.
